Lingerie store marks 70 years
An iconic lingerie business in Camberwell celebrates its 70th anniversary this year.
Dickory Dock has been based at the same Camberwell store, at 945 Burke Rd, since it opened its doors in 1946, providing personal customer service to generations of woman.
The family-owned and run business specialises in quality, imported lingerie including bras, briefs, bridal undergarments, corsetry and bodysuits, swimwear and bras for women who have undergone breast surgery.
The store, though recently revamped the store has the look of yesteryear with opulent curtained fitting rooms. Qualified corsetieres use their skill to help customers find the perfect style and fit. They offer a unique and intimate experience with good old-fashioned service.
School holiday activities
Camberwell traders are putting on school holiday fun in The Well shopping centre . There are free activities planned to keep the little ones amused.
Week 1: September 19 – 23
Take part in The Well’s colouring-in competition for a chance to win some cool prizes. The colouring station will be open daily from 11am until 2pm in the mall. In a rush? Take home the colouring sheet, colour it in and bring it back later. Hand completed entries to Coltivare, located on the ground level. Entries close September 30.
Week 2: September 26 – 30
Children can join this workshop to decorate their own pencil case to take home. Sessions will run daily between 11am and 2pm and will be located near Dymocks.

A big ‘thank you’ to all who attended Camberwell’s Dine In Dine Out event in August. Winter is here which means it’s almost time for our annual food event, Dine In Dine Out. The Camberwell traders are putting on the food fiesta as a way to showcase the best cuisine on offer in our shopping precinct.
The event will run on Saturday, August 6 across the Camberwell shopping precinct. There will be a pop-up park, activities in Evans Place, children’s activities, entertainment, food tastings and an evening of jazz music.
Don’t miss your chance to meet international chef Gabriel Gaté at Dymocks Camberwell from 11am on August 6. He will celebrate the launch of his new book, Délicieux, which includes seasonal dishes with the warmth of rural French cooking. Harry Potter book launch – July 31
Join Dymocks Camberwell from 9am – 12pm on July 31 for a Harry Potter celebration and the release of Book 8: The Cursed Child Parts I & II.
The event will celebrate all the things readers love about Harry Potter – there will be Harry Potter themed food including fudge, chocolate frogs, flavoured Jelly Beans. There will also be fun activities, prizes, trivia games, balloons and more.

Camberwell Sunday Market celebrates 40 years
On August 28, Camberwell Sunday Market will celebrate its 40th birthday. It is one of Australia’s most popular and iconic second-hand, antique, handmade and vintage markets. Rotary volunteers run the market and have raised more than $15 million for charities and Rotary projects.

It’s been a busy month of competitions in Camberwell, with winners announced for our Autumn Style Junction Lookbook competition and our Mother’s Day competition.
We’ve also got a few new shops that have opened across the shopping precinct in recent weeks, and an important announcement regarding some tram maintenance works that will impact shoppers for a couple of days in June.
Tram works to close roads in Camberwell
Visitors to Camberwell are advised that tram improvement works will be taking place in June and it will affect some road access.
As part of the modernisation of Melbourne’s tram network, Yarra Trams and Public Transport Victoria will repair tram track and overhead wires at Camberwell Junction from Saturday, June 11 to Tuesday, June 14.
Major maintenance works will be carried out at the entrance of the Camberwell Tram Depot in Riversdale Rd, with additional overhead wire maintenance to take place in Burke Rd.
Shops and services in the Camberwell Precinct will remain open during the works period and continue trading as normal.

- Skiin Care Clinic is new to Camberwell and is now open at 1/524 Riversdale Rd. The clinic offers a range of skin care treatments as well as spray tanning, waxing and makeup services. To celebrate their opening, they are offering customers a ‘buy one treatment, get a second treatment free’. It could be a great gift idea for Mother’s Day.
- Children’s toy shop Kidstuff has relocated and is now at 799 Burke Rd.
- Eyewear store Bailey Nelson is new to Camberwell and is located at 562 Burke Rd.
- The restaurant formerly known as La Casalinga has closed and a new eatery called The Reserve Cafe is now trading at 259 Camberwell Rd. They serve breakfast and lunch and trade Monday to Saturday from 7am til 4pm.
