Find creative ways to spoil Mum this Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is that one day a year when we shower our mums with love and thanks for everything they do for us.

This year, we’re asking you to extend that love to all the mothers in our Camberwell community.

You see, there’s a mother behind every store in Camberwell shopping precinct.

You might see them serving behind the counter, but chances are they’re supporting their families from the sidelines, largely unnoticed.

This Mother’s Day is the day to say “we see you and we thank you” – and you can do that by supporting your local businesses during these difficult times.

Many of the businesses in Camberwell shopping precinct are still open, and in this time of self-isolation, they are delivering to your door or offering contactless pick up.

Here are some creative ways to treat mum – and all your local mums – this Mother’s Day.

Create a home-cooked feast

Days at home offer the perfect opportunity to tap into your inner MasterChef and cook up a storm!

Start with a luxurious breakfast in bed and then bring the family together for an elaborate banquet lunch or simply prepare Mum’s favourite dish for dinner.

If the weather’s nice, you can assemble a platter of deli delights, including meats, stuffed vegetables, dips and cheeses, and create a picnic in the yard.

Whatever you decide, you’ll find every ingredient at Coles, Woolworths, Aldi, Camberwell Fresh Food Market and Coltivare, which are still open and have stocked shelves.

Seek out sweet treats

Cakes and sweets are a Mother’s Day staple and we’re spoilt for choice at Camberwell shopping precinct.

Laurent Patisserie is famous for their assorted sweet treats that are mini works of art, and Provence Artisan Bakers make a custard tart that will change your life.

Of course, you can never go wrong with chocolate and The Chocolate Box has an exhaustive range of chocolate delights to choose from.

Get gifting

This Mother’s Day you can get the perfect gift from Camberwell shopping precinct without leaving the house.

Check out Dymocks, where you pick up an assortment of books, as well as games to bring the family together.

If you’re after a personalised gift, browse the selection of timeless and elegant paper goods, cards and stationery from Paper Republic.

JB Hi-Fi also offers all the technology you need to set Mum up to stay in touch with her family while in lockdown.

For a great selection of pyjamas, slippers, robes and home décor, head to Bed Bath N’ Table, or for the latest homewares including serving platters, cutlery and kitchenware, Wheel & Barrow is sure to please.

Make it a floral occasion

Flowers on Mother’s Day goes without saying!

Whether your mum loves dramatically curated bouquets, or prefers the more traditional chrysanthemum bouquet, Camberwell has a florist that can put together the perfect bunch.

Have a meal delivered

The first commandment of Mother’s Day is “thou shalt not cook!”

Camberwell’s restaurants are still creating world-class meals, and delivering to your door or offering pick up.

Why not transport Mum’s tastebuds to a Greek island with a meal from Elyros, or try French-Belgian cuisine with Franco-Belge? Or perhaps try something a little exotic from Afghan Village? Just don’t forget to order the wine – East End Wine Bar and Sunshine Creek Cellars have some great options.

This Mother’s Day is going to look different, but Camberwell is more than just a shopping precinct, it’s a community. And this Mother’s Day we have the opportunity to really share the love.
