Camberwell shopping precinct was alive with festive spirit over the weekend, as hundreds of visitors attended the popular Christmas Family Day.
The Christmas Family Day was held on Saturday, December 14, as a way for local traders to thank the community for their continued support over the year.
Camberwell shopping precinct is home to more than 400 businesses, many of which are family-run and independent retailers that depend on community support to thrive during the year.
A jolly time
Camberwell’s Christmas Family Day has become an annual tradition for local families, where they can check in with Santa Claus and get involved the community’s favourite Where’s Rudolph? competition.
Parents and kids roamed the Camberwell shopping precinct to find Rudolph and the rest of Santa’s reindeer in shop windows.
Families also enjoyed free rides with Santa in his antique fire truck on the day, as he travelled around the festively decorated precinct.
Camberwell was filled with live music, roving entertainers, face painters and balloon modellers to create a truly memorable day for families.
The gingerbread man entertained crowds at the Camberwell Fresh Food Market, shoppers took free photos at the festive photo wall in Market Place, and children decorated Christmas cookies at Camberwell Place shopping centre.
There was also a creative stall where visitors made Christmas decorations and crafts with Jann from Smart Art Activities.
Overall, there were plenty of fun-filled activities available for visitors to Camberwell shopping precinct to enjoy and embrace the festive spirit.
Thanking the community
Kerry Daly, manager of Camberwell Traders’ Association, said this year’s Christmas Family Day was enjoyed by many.
“It was fantastic to see so many families return to our Christmas Family Day this year and enjoy everything the precinct has to offer,” she said.
Ms Daly said the event was put on by the traders as a way to thank the community for their support throughout the year.
“The Christmas Family Day means a great deal to Camberwell traders, and this is their way of giving back to their customers.”
