Having served the highest quality meats and poultry products for the past 12 years, Rainbow Meats & The Chicken Well in Camberwell remains a cut above the rest.
Co-owner Frank Tenace and his team take great pride in their store, which was one of the first to open in the Camberwell Place shopping centre (formerly known as The Well).
The store has all the meat and poultry cuts you could imagine, with beef, lamb, pork, chicken, and much more.
The Rainbow Meats team also make a wide range of sausages, with varieties ranging from classic pork to Malay satay chicken.
Rainbow Meats has five stores located throughout Melbourne, which gives them a big advantage, according to Mr Tenace.
“We’re able to buy good product at a reasonable price, so that we can sell it at a reasonable price to our customers,” he said.
Mr Tenace said the key to their popularity was having the freshest, highest quality products, as well as offering a wide variety of meat and poultry cuts.
“If we haven’t got it, we make sure we get it for them,” he said.
“If we notice any new menus come up, and people start asking about new things, we find out what it’s all about and then source it for them.”
Adapting to the times
Rainbow Meats has also been online for some time, allowing customers to place ‘click and collect’ orders.
The store also recently introduced home delivery to help customers that can’t physically get to the store.
Mr Tenace said the home delivery service had been popular, whether customers wanted to avoid the crowds or were just too busy.
“Some people use it every now and then, while other people use it regularly,” he noted.
The team has also taken COVID-19 precautions seriously to help customers and staff practice social distancing.
“We’ve got 1.5m place boxes for people to stand in, and the ticket machine has been moved onto a stand in front of the store, so people don’t have to squeeze around the counter to try and grab a ticket,” he said.
“We’ve taken all the precautions we can here, it’s our number one priority at the moment.”
Putting customers first
Mr Tenace said good customer service was crucial to Rainbow Meats’ success.
“If you don’t have customers, you don’t have a business,” he said.
On top of the store’s quality range and reasonable prices, the team helps customers discover new dishes.
The store features touch screens where customers can find new recipes, as well as nutritional information about their products, and print them off for free.
Customers can also join the Rainbow Meats loyalty card program to receive discounts and enter competitions throughout the year.
