Discovering jazz ballet as a six-year-old, Amanda Lenny unleashed a love of fitness, later playing basketball in high school.
Now she is using that life-long passion to encourage and assist others on their fitness and wellbeing path as the New Club Marketing Manager for South Pacific Health Clubs in Camberwell Junction.
“I am really excited to be in this beautiful Platinum Club. We are a hidden gem in Camberwell, located two levels underground,” Mrs Lenny said.
“You could say I live and breathe South Pacific as I’ve been with the company for 14 years, although my background is in marketing for pharmaceutical companies.”
A family business
The mum-of-two has had a variety of roles at South Pacific, including in regional group fitness and as a personal trainer and group fitness instructor across the company’s seven clubs.
South Pacific Health Clubs in Camberwell Junction has four group fitness studios offering reformer Pilates, hot yoga, cycling and BURN – the club’s signature HIIT program.
Mrs Lenny teaches reformer Pilates, mat Pilates, cycling and BURN.
“What I love about working for South Pacific is it’s a family-owned business. It’s my home away from home,” she said.
“The owner Conn Constantinou created the brand in 2001 at the iconic St Kilda Sea Baths location and has continued to build to seven health clubs offering unique and first-to-market products and services.
“South Pacific had the world’s first multi-zoned altitude training facility.”
Also known as hypoxic training, altitude training involves exercising in oxygen reduced air and is said to improve performance.
Fitness for everyone
Mrs Lenny said premium club locations, amazing group fitness classes and training programs for all abilities and fitness levels are all part of South Pacific’s success.
Camberwell Junction is no exception, with its multifaceted blend of residents and a vibrant fitness ethos.
“Camberwell as a suburb offers lots of small fitness studios, offering a range of training that meet the various needs here,” Mrs Lenny said.
“Our purpose is to offer all programs under the one roof. However, it’s not a one-size-fits-all model. Our doors are open to anyone from the age of 13 up to 80+ years old.”
Mrs Lenny said whether you want strength training on the gym floor, immersion in a virtual cycling class, need to lengthen, strengthen and move better with reformer Pilates, or wind down your day with yoga, it’s all on offer.
The club offers users a place to “experience a holistic approach to fitness and wellbeing”.
Trainers are committed to helping you smash your fitness goals, whatever they may be. It has 24/7 access, allowing even the busiest person to slot some fitness into their day.
A personal touch
South Pacific Health Clubs has “the most amazing” members and instructors, Mrs Lenny said.
“I absolutely love our community here.”
Personal attention is important to Mrs Lenny with the manager ensuring the regulars all have her on speed dial.
“They can talk to me any time about their health and fitness or if they need my support to get their friends and family training with them. Gyms can be very intimidating and we create a warm, inviting and uplifting vibe here at our Camberwell club,” she said.
“I can’t wait to meet more beautiful Camberwell members as the year goes on.”
