Introducing LSKD Camberwell

What does it mean to be 1% better every day? For LSKD, it’s not about perfection, hitting a particular number or constantly chasing the next big achievement. It’s about getting moving, embracing challenges and continuing to grow – whatever that looks like for you.

Now, the Australian activewear brand is bringing that philosophy to Camberwell Junction with its newest Victorian street-front store, giving the local community a place to discover LSKD’s performance apparel, meet the team and connect with fellow athletes and active locals. The Camberwell store is LSKD’s third Victorian street-front location, following stores in Geelong and Armadale, and the neighbourhood felt like a natural fit. With its mix of gyms, Pilates studios, fitness spaces and an established community of active locals, Camberwell Junction is already home to people who live and breathe movement. “We love being part of local neighbourhoods where people are active, connected and passionate about what they do,” the LSKD team says.

But LSKD’s story began long before a retail store. Back in 2002, founder Jason Daniel was just 16 and spent his time riding BMX and motocross in Logan, Queensland. His passion for riding earned him the nickname “Loose Kid” after fellow riders joked that he was always “riding loose”. The nickname eventually became Loosekid Industries, a small wholesale business selling T-shirts and garments to the local community. Jason started the business from his mum’s bedroom, with stock shipped from containers in the backyard.

What began as a teenage passion project gradually grew. Loosekid Industries became LKI in 2007; Jason left his career as a carpenter in 2010 to pursue the business full-time, and in 2018, LKI became LSKD. That change marked a new chapter. Drawing on its motocross, BMX and water sports roots, LSKD shifted its focus towards functional fitness apparel and began selling directly to the community that had supported the brand from the beginning.

Today, the brand creates technical performance apparel across running, training and all-day activity, with a mission to inspire its community to be 1% better every day. That community is at the heart of how LSKD develops its products, too. The brand actively listens to customer feedback and uses those insights to shape what comes next, with some of its most popular styles emerging from a close understanding of what its community actually wants to wear and how they want to move.

For runners, the Women’s Accelerate Running Shorts have become a favourite for their lightweight feel, flexibility, and freedom of movement. The Fusion Leggings were created by combining features the community loved across different LSKD legging styles, resulting in an all-round pair designed to work across training, running and everyday movement. For men, the Rep Shorts are built for everything from HIIT and functional training to running, with four-way stretch and a versatile design for everyday wear.

LSKD hopes this balance of performance, functionality and everyday life will resonate with the Camberwell community. And if the store’s opening was anything to go by, the community is already getting behind it. More than 600 people came through the doors for the Camberwell Junction opening, with local athletes, gym-goers and long-time members of the wider LSKD community turning out to celebrate.

For the team, seeing those connections come to life in the store has been one of the most exciting parts of opening in Camberwell. From people training at nearby gyms and studios to customers who have been part of the LSKD community for years, the store is designed to be more than somewhere to shop. It’s a physical extension of the community the brand has been building for more than two decades. And that brings LSKD’s original philosophy full circle.

What started with a teenager selling T-shirts from his bedroom in Logan has grown into a global brand. Still, the underlying idea remains much the same: find something you love, surround yourself with people who inspire you, embrace the uncomfortable bits and keep moving forward. 1% at a time.
