From Thursday 1 October 2026, businesses will no longer be able to apply surcharges to Visa, Mastercard, American Express and eftpos card payments.
The changes only apply to card payment surcharges. They do not apply to hospitality sector weekend or public holiday surcharges or other types of fees.
