Businesses able to reopen and resume trade

Retail re-opening

Following a 5-day snap lockdown across Victoria, businesses are now able to reopen and resume trading.

From 11.59pm on Wednesday, February 17 lockdown restrictions were lifted, allowing businesses to largely return to previous trading conditions.

Restaurants and retail can reopen, including hairdressers.

Community facilities, entertainment venues and all other public places can reopen – although some additional limits on crowd sizes will be in place.

Students will be able to head back to school. Workers will be able to get back to work. For offices – both public and private – that means a return to 50 per cent on site.

There are no longer four reasons to leave home. The five-kilometre restriction will no longer apply.

However, some restrictions will remain in place including:

  • No more than five visitors to your home per day. Public gatherings with friends and family are limited to 20.
  • Masks will be required everywhere indoors except at home – at the supermarket, at the office, at hospitality venues when you’re getting up to pay. Masks will also be required outside if you can’t physically distance from others.
