Free Sustainability Workshops

With so many changes to how we treat waste and packaging on the horizon, City of Boroondara are offering free, one hour, on-demand workshops.  With a focus on retailers, the sessions will be delivered directly to shopping centres at a time nominated by them and will cover the following:

• Ways to reduce waste, from ordering to disposal.
• Sustainable packaging options with clarity on compostable and biodegradable products and their impact on the environment.
• What to look for when engaging suppliers and choosing products or services e.g. trademarks/accreditations etc.
• General ways to reduce the carbon footprint in everyday operations
• Educating staff and stakeholders on how they can support the businesses to become more sustainable.
• Communicating sustainability messages to clients and the community

Included also, will be an overview of how businesses can take advantage of government grants entitling them to discounts on solar systems, as well as upgrades to their HWS, AC or fridge for example.

Energy Savers Program

The City of Boroondara is now offering free advice and recommended suppliers to reduce energy bills through the Energy Savers program.

What’s on offer?

• Upgrade to reverse-cycle air-conditioners
• Retrofit to LED Lighting,
• Replace inefficient gas hot water systems,
• Install energy-efficient fridges, freezers, ventilation fans and motors and more
