How the Camberwell community can support bushfire relief

Australia’s devastating bushfires have destroyed lives, homes and property across the country, leaving many in Camberwell and the surrounding areas asking what they can do to help.

Firefighters, authorities and charities have been truly tested, with bushfires burning across parts of Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia, Tasmania and Western Australia.

Camberwell traders join the wider community to acknowledge the destruction caused by the bushfires raging across Australia and keep the victims and firefighters in their thoughts.

Many of you will have already contributed in some way however, if you are looking for ways to help bushfire victims and support firefighters, one of the best ways you can assist is be making a cash donation.

Charities like Bendigo Bank’s Community Enterprise Foundation have asked for cash donations because they’re “quicker, more effective and logistically provide far more flexibility than donations of material items or pre-loved goods”.

How can you help?

You can donate to The Salvation Army Disaster Appeal at any Woolworths checkout, or donate to the Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery Fund at any Coles checkout.

You can also help by shopping at the Australian Red Cross op shop and the Salvos Store in Camberwell.

To support Victorian communities impacted by the fires, the state government has partnered with Community Enterprise Foundation and the Salvation Army to establish the VIC Bushfire Disaster Appeal.

People can donate to the appeal in person at the Bendigo Bank in Camberwell or donate online at the Community Enterprise Foundation.

You can also make an online donation to the following organisations:

Victorian Country Fire Association

Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery Fund

Salvation Army Disaster Appeal

Vinnies Bushfire Appeal

Foodbank Victoria

Donations of $2 or more are tax deductible.

Every bit helps

Camberwell Traders Association particularly wish to thank so many of our retailers who have made significant financial contributions or arranged special trading days and other opportunities for customers to contribute to bushfire relief initiatives.

We recognise the role small business plays in bringing communities together and acknowledge the severe impact these fires, and before that the drought, have had on our rural neighbours.

We urge you to support these communities as they find their feet again to help them recover. Together, we can support those affected by the bushfires. Every little bit helps.
