Dine In Dine Out 2015: Thanks for making this another amazing year
Article posted: August 12, 2015
Three cheers for Camberwell’s third and biggest Dine In Dine Out food event.
The winter Food Fiesta took place on the first weekend of August where Camberwell traders put on a lively two days of food demonstrations, tastings and live entertainment.
Hundreds of visitors flocked to the marquee set up in Burke Avenue – beautifully decorated with colourful bunting and iridescent festoon lighting – to enjoy the food and festivities on offer.
Colourful chairs complimented rustic wooden tables finished with native flower boxes, where people gathered to enjoy a beverage and tasty cuisine.
Camberwell eateries had the opportunity to showcase their winning recipes, favourite dishes of the season, and tips for making cooking at home more enjoyable.
Camberwell restaurants and cafes that sold food and participated in Dine In Dine Out included Firechief Pizzeria, Elyros, Cuppa Cha, Ebony Quill, Love Pollo, Rainbow Meats and Michel’s Patisserie.
Popular Asian food brand Yeo’s offered cooking demonstrations and food tastings that allowed visitors to sample authentic oriental dishes and flavours.
Children took part in Bubble Muffin’s educational food workshops where they learnt about different fruits and vegetables and how to prepare them in simple yet tasty meals.
On the Saturday, the Camberwell Fresh Food Market put on a series of demonstrations that saw traders share expert tips and tricks for preparing specific foods. Onlookers learned how to shuck oysters, how to make a winning lasagne and the best way to debone a chicken.
On the Saturday evening, the marquee transformed into a relaxed lounge where people enjoyed food and drinks complemented by live jazz tunes performed by Darcy McNulty and the Pound Collective.
Camberwell Centre Association manager Kerry Daly said the 2015 Dine In Dine Out event was a success.
“We were so pleased to hold an event that could bring together the chefs, restaurateurs and people of Camberwell who make this area as vibrant as it is,” she said.
“This year we had a record crowd of visitors as well as a fresh selection of traders exhibiting at our food stalls.”
Eateries in Camberwell will continue to offer meal specials as part of Dine In Dine Out until the end of August, Ms Daly said.
“Visitors to Camberwell are invited to try exclusive samples on offer at restaurants and cafes throughout August – simply look for the Taste Trail posters in shop windows to find participating outlets.”
