Camberwell On Canvas 2019 – Highlights

Camberwell on Canvas returns for eighth year with new competition

Camberwell’s sought-after community art trail has returned for its eighth year, introducing an exciting new competition in 2019.

Running from November 8 – 30, Camberwell on Canvas showcases the talent of local artists in Camberwell shop windows.

Artists ranging from amateurs to professionals have been assigned specific shops on Burke Hill and created works to show their interpretation of the theme ‘art to match a store’.

Works will range from oil to water colour, charcoal, pencil and more, presenting a range of different creative styles.

This year, members of the public can enter two competitions. The first competition requires participants to find clues in designated artworks to solve a puzzle, while the other competition allows people to vote for their favourite art works. Both competitions give participants the chance to win great prizes (full details on how to enter below).

The Camberwell Centre Association has created the community event to support the unique businesses on Burke Hill and highlight local artists.

The association provides the canvases and some of the works will be available for sale.

Camberwell Centre Association manager Kerry Daly said it was exciting to run Camberwell on Canvas again, following its success in previous years.

“The art trail gives artists a chance to work creatively with local traders and present unique perspectives on the shopping precinct,” she said.

“It also draws people to the Burke Hill area, where they can discover the range of stores and restaurants in this historic part of Camberwell shopping precinct.”
