Workplace Learning Opportunities – Employers Wanted

The Inner Eastern Local Learning and Employment Network (IELLEN) is a not for profit organisation dedicated to improving the outcomes of young people, funded by the Department of Education to assist local schools improve access to quality SWL opportunities.
IELLEN are looking to place over 1000 local secondary students studying a VET course with their Senior School Certificates (VCE/VCAL), and they’re looking for your help.
Many of them need structured workplace learning (SWL) opportunities to enhance their learning in areas including:
- Hospitality – Back of house mainly
- Fashion Design
- Allied Health – Physiotherapy
- Allied Health – Speech Pathology
- Allied Health – Occupational Therapy
- Allied Health – Dietician
- Graphic/Website Design
- Hairdressing
- Veterinary Practices
- Dog Grooming
- Automotive
- Gyms
- Sport Centres
- Retail Make up
- Childcare Centres
Structured workplace learning is on-the-job training (mostly in a block of one week) during which a student has the opportunity to put into practice skills and knowledge they have gained through attendance of a VET course.
What they need from you?
IELLEN are looking for employers to make themselves available to host students in their workplace, particularly during the months between April and October.
What about Workcover and pay?
All students are covered by the Department of Education’s own WorkSafe Insurance policy. Payments to students are for a minimum of $5 per day (exceptions for not for profits).
