Pilot program open to traders who want to reduce plastic waste
April 29, 2021
Plastics pollution harms our health, wildlife and attracts significant clean-up costs. To reduce the amount of plastic waste that goes to landfills each year, single-use plastics at bars, cafes, and restaurants will be phased out by 2023 in Victoria. Your business can lead the way by participating in this pilot program and get professional help in sourcing the most suitable sustainable product alternatives.
Whether you’re a business already taking action to reduce your impact on the environment or you are new to this, you are invited to express your interest in participating in the Plastic Free Business Awareness pilot program in Camberwell.
Delivered by the City of Boroondara and the Boomerang Alliance, in partnership with Camberwell Centre Traders Association and Camberwell Fresh Food Market, the program will run for six months starting July 2021.
It is limited to the first 20 hospitality traders, who will receive free, tailored support to identify single-use plastic items to eliminate, reduce and/or replace with a more sustainable alternative.
Participants can trial and test environmentally responsible and cost effective, single-use plastic alternatives that best suit their business.
You can make a positive environmental impact and potentially attract new customers wanting to support ‘greener’ businesses. There will be promotional opportunities and benefits in reducing waste and its associated costs.
This invitation is strictly limited so get in quick. If you are interested to find out more or get involved in this project contact Lisa Di Felice at Boroondara Council on (03) 9278 4363 or [email protected]
