Camberwell hosted one of its most successful fashion events last month.
As the debut event in the STYLELIGHTS series, Camberwell Traders Association presented a delightful evening of fine dining, fashion and a lively discussion on blogging.
Held on March 27, about 150 guests were welcomed to a beautifully presented area upstairs at Georges Restaurant Bar Cafe, where tables were lined with pretty placemats, a free copy of Dreaming of Dior or Chanel and a goodies bag to take home.
Melbourne fashion blogger Phoebe Montague, the woman behind the blog Lady Melbourne, was the evening’s special guest. She shared her experience of breaking into blogging and creating a career for herself in the fashion media industry.
On the evening, Montague said she had no idea that blogging about fashion would give her a career and allow her to travel the world.
Fashion blogger Cecylia Kee of cecyclia.com attended the event and said it was “a marvellous night”.
“The runway was so special and I loved hearing Phoebe share her insights,” she said.
“Based on the positive feedback we received following the event, we hope to bring more of STYLELIGHTS to Camberwell in the near future.”
Also there was emerging blogger Chrystal Psaltopoulos of chrystalovevintage. In a recent blog post she said STYLELIGHTS was a lovely way for “the local retailers to show off their new season’s range”.
While she enjoyed the fashion show, Chrystal said a “huge drawcard” was the chance to hear Phoebe Montague speak about blogging.
Camberwell retailers had the opportunity to showcase their key season fashions including clothing, shoes and accessories.
Boutique and high street stores participated in the fashion parade and included brands such as Esse, Country Road, Bojangles, Decjuba, Jeanswest, Esprit, Cavalier menswear, and Sisca, among others.
Camberwell Centre Association manager Kerry Daly said the event was a success.
“We were so pleased to hold an event that could bring together the retailers, brands and people of Camberwell who make this area as vibrant as it is,” she said.
“Based on the positive feedback we received following the event, we hope to bring more of STYLELIGHTS to Camberwell in the near future.”
The evening finished with a host of lucky dip raffle prizes that saw guests win gift packs, vouchers and discounted offers to stores in Camberwell.
The event also gave guests the chance to donate to the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation.
