The Well shopping centre to become food and dining hub
Article posted: May 24, 2018
Camberwell shoppers can look forward to a new food and dining hub, as The Well shopping centre undergoes an $18 million redevelopment.
Works are already underway, and the upgrade will include a state-of-the-art dining precinct featuring family-focused food and beverage options.
Planned works will incorporate new retail offerings, enhancements to the current centre amenity and facade, and an off-street laneway precinct accessible via Burke Rd.
While developer ISPT is yet to announce which retailers will occupy the refurbished area, they hope to appoint a number of “popular” and “family-focused” food and beverage offerings that will give people “a place to pop-in for a quick, quality meal”.
ISPT Retail Services General Manager Sam Curry said the development of the new dining precinct is expected to breathe new life into the shopping centre.
“The redevelopment is in response to changes to the area; with 15 new apartment developments and more than 500 new dwellings; the area will be burgeoning with residents in search of food and dining options,” he said.
The new dining precinct has been designed with a modern eatery in mind that is light-filled and open. The space will have multi-level layers, nooks and seating options.
Current tenants in The Well, including Coles, JB HIFI, fresh food grocers and specialty retailers will remain open throughout the redevelopment period and trading hours will not change.
Stage one works have commenced and are expected to conclude by December 2018.
