Meet Georgia Howarth of Skindulge Medi Spa in Camberwell
For a skin clinic that pairs luxurious and relaxing treatments with a medical approach, look no further than Skindulge Medi Spa in Camberwell.
Manager Georgia Howarth said the clinic offers paramedical and clinical services, with a focus on results-driven treatments.
“We want people to come here and notice a change in their skin and experience results,” she said.
The salon specialises in skin treatments for age reversal and age management, pigmentation, sun damage, acne, rosacea, and to maintain and maximise skin health.
The treatments on offer include facials, clinical peels, micro-dermabrasion, LED light therapy, skin needling and cosmetic injections.
In addition to skin treatments, the clinic also offers some pamper and beauty treatments including massage, standard manicures and pedicures, waxing, and eyelash and eyebrow tinting.
With every skin treatment the salon incorporates a component of pampering, such as a short massage while a peel is developing on the face, and offering clients a cup of tea after their session has finished.
A medical approach to skin care
Consultation and detailed skin analysis is an important part of the skin treatment process at Skindulge Medi Spa, said Howarth.
“This is so we know we are prescribing the right skin care for the client’s concerns and skin type,” she said.
“For example, you may think you have an oily or dry skin, but until we assess it we don’t really know what we’re working with.”
Howarth said the team at Skindulge Media Spa were trained to recognise skin conditions that may be linked to internal factors, such as yeast or wheat infections, and will refer clients to see a doctor or naturopath to help them treat skin conditions holistically.
Dr Bronwen McGraw, the clinic’s in-house doctor, is an experienced GP with a special interest in cosmetic medicine.
She is available to consult with clients on cosmetic treatments as well as skin disorders that require a medical approach for treatment.
She also administers injections for cosmetic purposes such as tackling fine lines and wrinkles.
Education key for maintaining skin
Howarth said the clinic focused on educating their clients about skin care.
“We always talk our clients through the phases of a treatment, so they can understand what’s going on,” she said.
Educating clients about how to look after their skin post treatment also encourages them to maintain the work that was done in the clinic once they get home, said Howarth.
“We always follow up with clients after they leave the clinic to ensure they know what to do with their skin after a treatment.
“It allows them to understand what they can do at home to get the best benefits from their treatment.
“A large part of maintaining great skin happens at home, so we give clients advice and feedback on how they can do that. This includes advising an at-home skin care regime, giving them a six-month skin plan and getting them interested in their own skin.”
Quality products
Skindulge Medi Spa prides itself on offering quality skin care and makeup products.
“The products don’t have any nasties in them; none of them are tested on animals. They’re full of vitamins, fruit extracts and antioxidants for the skin,” Howarth said.
The clinic stocks Australian made and owned brands Aspect and Aspect Dr, as well as Cosmedix, Cosmedix Elite, DNA Renewal, and mineral makeup brand Colorescience.
“Our staff all use our products so we know how the products work and we can give an informed and honest recommendation,” Howarth said.
