Menswear trends: 3 styles for men to master
As the cooler weather heads our way, menswear trends are shifting to smart tailoring and classic basics.
This autumn/winter season has some great options for men’s fashion which combines style seen on the catwalk and in the streets.
For the low-down on smart but relaxed dressing, read on.
Slogans
This season, it’s all about words on tees, jumpers and other garments.
Typography and logos remain popular in menswear, so don’t be afraid to let some personality through with a slogan, mantra or phrase – most of the major menswear designers have released word-based garments to align with this trend.
Let your jumper, t-shirt or jacket make a statement – literally. Political activism in fashion typography is particularly on-point this season.
Smart jackets
Whether it’s a bomber, blazer or double-breasted jacket, the fit has to be tailored and look smart.
Quilted jackets are also all the rage on the catwalks this autumn/winter season, which is lucky considering it’s warm for winter.
Leather (or leather-look) coats are another key look for menswear this season.
The colour brown has moved from drab to fab, so nab yourself a beige or taupe jacket and mix it with a soft pastel shirt or even a crisp white one.
Brown also pairs well with black and blue denim. For a more chocolate brown jacket, mix it with a red or auburn shirt.
Relaxed trousers
For casual weekend looks or relaxed workwear style, opt for slouched denim jeans, soft chinos rolled up at the ankle, or a drop-crotch trouser.
It’s nice to know men don’t have to suit up all the time, but this season presents the opportunity to mix relaxed styles with a touch of smart – try pairing your casual trousers with a smart jacket for the ultimate look.
