3 women’s fashion trends for spring 2019

Spring is in the air, and so is the sweet scent of new season fashion.

While we’ve been climbing out under the weight of sweaters and coats, designers and stylists have been revealing their new season style offerings – and reminding us all why spring is a fashionista’s favourite season.

We’ve scoured the Australian fashion festivals and shows, and even though our feet are killing us and we need to sleep for about a week, we’ve whittled the list down to three key items every style maven will have in her wardrobe this spring – and we reveal where you can find them all in Camberwell.

These are the three women’s fashion trends to adopt for spring 2019:

Perfect prints

Embrace your inner animal instinct with the ‘it’ print of the season: leopard.

This spring you’ll find leopard in the boardroom, bars and racing festivals. But while leopard is the king of the fashion jungle (or at least in the jungle royal family) this spring, other prints like polka dots, gingham and florals are also on the prowl.

Trenery is showing dresses that are all about the bold floral print; while Seed has a fabulously versatile knee-length animal print pencil skirt that can be teemed with a t-shirt for the day, or heels and a jacket for the evening.

Just remember the golden rule of prints: you’re not in costume, darling. Taking Shape has taken the cutesy out of polka dot print with a chic, clean-cut dress that shows that prints can be fun but sophisticated.

Linen

The Out of Africa theme continues in the realm of fabric, with the return of classic linen.

It’s cool, it’s elegant and this season’s best dressed are keeping their cool in linen dresses, jumpsuits, jackets and pants.

Blue Illusion’s red linen shirtdress combines comfort with a punch of wow, Sussan offers a linen utility pant that is effortlessly cool, and Target’s white, crisp linen tunic is set to become an everyday staple.

Havana Boutique is renowned for creating clothing using natural yarns and offer a range of creatively shaped garments in dyed linen. Oska, known for their commitment to sustainable fashion, are also lovers of linen – you’ll find linen trousers, skirts and jumpsuits in their spring collection.

Matching sets

Ladies, we have some fabulous fashion news: this season it’s not only OK to be matchy matchy, it’s positively on trend!

Yes, say goodbye to hours wasted curating the day’s ensemble – this spring, simply have a few sets on hand ready to go.

Country Road has nailed the concept with matching linen pants and a blazer in this season’s coolest fabric, but for a more casual set, head over to Decjuba for a bomber jacket and shirt combo in, you guessed it, leopard print.
